U.S. Space Force Maj. Gen. Douglas A. Schiess, Combined Force Space Component Command commander, Mrs. Debbie Schiess, and faculty members of Valley Elementary School take a group photo on school grounds in Yucaipa, California, April 14, 2023. Schiess, a previous student of Valley and resident of Yucaipa, was invited back to his old elementary school for ‘Leadership Day’ where he gave a speech, visited classrooms and discussed Space Force-related topics with faculty members. This visit is part of the GO Inspire Program, designed for General Officers to inform, influence and inspire young Americans for military service and give the opportunity for every youth to connect with someone they can identify with whether that is based on race, gender or where they grew up.
