Christopher Carlson raises his right hand during official enlistment as he is sworn in by 2Lt Jonathan Harrison, MQ-9 pilot at 118th’s Operation Group, on June 20, 2023. The swear in ceremony took place in front of a MQ-9 which is on static display at The Great Tennessee Air Show at the Smyrna Aviation Airport through June 11, 2023.
Carlson served on active duty in the USAF from 2003 to 2007, fulfilling all four years of his enlistment while being stationed at Travis AFB in California. He decided to separate from the USAF to use his GI Bill to chase his dream of playing college baseball.
After graduating from college, he had a few different careers but always felt like something was missing. He started to realize that he missed wearing the uniform and working with people whom he could legitimately call family. He then began researching opportunities with the Tennessee Air National Guard and now, he gets to continue the family tradition of being the third generation to come through Berry Field and serve this great state of Tennessee.
