SAN DIEGO (June 20, 2023) Partner nation representatives attend the opening brief of the RIMPAC 2024 initial planning conference (IPC), June 20, 2023. More than 400 personnel representing 24 nations scheduled to participate in RIMPAC 2024 attended the U.S. 3rd Fleet-hosted event, June 20-23, to begin preparations for the 29th iteration of the world’s largest maritime exercise in summer 2024. RIMPAC is a U.S. Pacific Fleet scheduled exercise executed by U.S. 3rd Fleet that began in 1971. An integral part of U.S. Pacific Fleet, U.S. 3rd Fleet leads naval forces in the Indo-Pacific and provides the realistic, relevant training necessary to flawlessly execute our Navy’s role across the full spectrum of military operations—from combat operations to humanitarian assistance and disaster relief. U.S. 3rd Fleet works together with allies and partners to advance freedom of navigation, the rule of law, and other principles that underpin security for the Indo-Pacific region.
