U.S. sailors assigned to Naval Cargo Handling Battalion 1 move cargo from a trailer onto a forklift for loading aboard the amphibious transport dock ship USS San Antonio (LPD 17) Oct. 31, 2012, at Naval Station Norfolk, Va. Navy officials ordered San Antonio, the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1) and the amphibious dock landing ship USS Carter Hall (LSD 50) to the New York City area to support relief operations after Hurricane Sandy struck the region two days earlier. Sandy formed in the Western Caribbean Sea and affected Jamaica, Cuba, Haiti and the Bahamas before making landfall in the mid-Atlantic region of the United States.
