A U.S. Marine with Combat Logistics Battalion 31, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit guides a joint light tactical vehicle with Battalion Landing Team 2/1, 31st MEU, onto a U.S Navy landing craft, air cushion aboard the amphibious dock landing ship USS New Orleans (LPD-18) off the coast of Australia, July 29, 2023. The LCAC’s role is to deploy Marines to shores in order to conduct combat and humanitarian missions around the globe. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the America Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
