U.S. Marine Corps PFC Lane Haack, a bulk fuel specialist with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 265 (Rein.), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, and Australian Army PTE Pandu Pongliku-Henry, a petroleum operator with 9th Force Support Battalion, exchange patches during a bilateral Australian Army forward arming and refueling point exercise at Shoalwater Bay Training Area, Australia, July 5, 2023. The Australian Army’s FARP gave Marines the opportunity to build comraderie and exchange gifts while also learning the differences in their profession and military organization within an expeditionary advanced base of operations. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the America Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
