A U.S. Navy Sailor assigned to the amphibious transport dock landing ship USS New Orleans (LPD 18) uses hand signals to communicate to U.S. Marines with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 265 (Rein.), while conducting flight operations in preparation for Talisman Sabre 23, in the Coral Sea, July 23, 2023. The ability to operate seamlessly and simultaneously on the sea, ashore, and in the air, represents the unique value of amphibious forces. TS 23 is the largest bilateral military exercise between Australia and the United States advancing a free and open Indo-Pacific by strengthening relationships and interoperability among key allies and enhancing our collective capabilities to respond to a wide array of potential security concerns.
