86th Airlift Wing group commanders, German Luftwaffe from NATO Allied Air Command, local civic leaders and members from the Rhineland-Pfalz Historical Research Community honor nine aircrew members at the “Strictly GI” memorial service in the Mußbach forest near Neustadt, Germany, at the exact crash site of the fallen B-17G Flying Fortress aircraft, July 28, 2023. The ceremony brought the living relatives of the aircrew to remember and celebrate their sacrifices and further strengthen bonds between Germany and the United States.
