The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health suggest that water should be the first-line option for maintaining hydration before, during and after working in hot conditions. The Department of Defense Nutrition Committee also recommends avoiding energy drinks before, during or after workouts and 6 hours before sleep.
