Airmen assigned to the 39th Rescue Squadron and the 23rd Logistics Readiness Squadron sprint across the airfield during a Forward Area Refueling Point training exercise at Avon Park Air Force Range, Florida, Aug. 8, 2023. FARP Airmen sprint across the airfield, each carrying one of three 100-foot sections of the fuel hose, to connect to the receiving aircraft. FARP provides the fuel necessary for helicopter and fixed-wing operations to continue their mission while reducing the vulnerability of forward deployed forces by taking gas from the HC-130J and passing it into another airframe on the ground using a system of hoses.
