U.S. Marines with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, conduct a shooting drill aboard the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6), in Salomon Sea, Aug. 12, 2023. The maritime raid force Marines hosted a deck shoot for command element Marines to hone their marksmanship with pistol and rifle weapon systems. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of USS America Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
