Mr. Brandon Hofmeister, senior vice president of sustainability and external affairs, Consumers Energy, accepts the annual Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award, the highest recognition given by the U.S. Government to employers for their outstanding support of employees serving in the Guard and Reserve, during a ceremony Aug. 30 at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. Consumers Energy was one of 15 employers selected from 1,863 nominations this year to receive the prestigious award. Nominated by Air National Guard Tech. Sgt. Derek Nelson, Consumers Energy provides electric and natural gas service to more than 6.8 million of Michigan's residents in all of Michigan's 68 Lower Peninsula counties. It is Michigan’s largest utility provider.
