Canadian Lt. Gen. Alain Parent the deputy commander of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) talks with U.S. Air Force Col. Douglas Farnham, commander of the 101st Air Refueling Wing (ARW) in Bangor, Me on Dec. 4, 2012. Gen. Parent received a brief and took a tour of the base and facilities. The 101st provides refueling support for NORAD missions. NORAD is a U.S.-Canadian command responsible for defending the skies over both countries. It also monitors sea traffic approaching their shores. Its headquarters are at Peterson Air Force Base, Colo.
