Michael Eastridge, former commander of the 33rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, present Chris Elstoft, Consul General of Australia in Chicago, with a plaque honoring the shared history between the Illinois National Guard and Australia during a ceremony commemorating the Battle of Hamel, a World War I battle which marked the first time U.S. forces fought alongside the Australian military, and marking the 300th birthday of the Illinois National Guard in Springfield May 6.
