Marines assigned to U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Central Command stand during the Pledge of Allegiance at Centro Asturiano Cemetery in Tampa, Florida, Sept. 15, 2023. MARCENT held a memorial service for U.S. Marine Corps 1st Lt. Baldomero Lopez, who earned the Medal of Honor for his valor during the Korean War. On Sept. 15, 1950, Lopez jumped on a grenade during the Battle of Inchon to save the lives of his comrades. Lopez grew up in Tampa and is remembered by the community annually for his heroism.
