A new 3D printed motor removal tool invented by Southeast Regional Maintenance Center (SERMC) was recently printed by Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center's (MARMC) Technology and Innovation Lab. Compared to the old method of extracting and replacing the motors with wire, which was heavily dependent on technique and had a high risk of failure, the new Electro-Optical Stabilization Subsystem (EOSS) motor removal tools provides positive control and maintains perfect alignment of the motor during removal and reinstallation.
