U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Alejandro Martinez, a mortarman with 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, is presented an award by Col. Daniel Whitley, the Deputy Commander of Marine Corps Installations West, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton during the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce annual Heroes of Oceanside and Camp Pendleton Luncheon at the Seabird Resort in Oceanside, California, Sept. 22, 2023. The luncheon recognized Camp
Pendleton Marines and Sailors, members of the Oceanside Police Department, Fire Department, and Lifeguards Services, as well as local healthcare workers and educators for going above and beyond in the past year. Martinez’s achievements include winning the Marine of the Quarter board for his battalion, regiment and division as well as providing technical and tactical expertise
