1st Lt. Antonieta Jara, 154th Medical Group public health officer, is seen at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. At 17, Antonieta Jara embarked on a solo journey from Ecuador to the United States, carrying two suitcases and a dream. She overcame adversity, worked multiple jobs while pursuing a college degree, and eventually joined the Air Force as a public health technician. With the support of several mentors, the military and her family, she continued her education and became a commissioned officer after dedicating 14 years of uniformed service.
