Mavis Machniak, Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Pacific fleet installation, engineering and logistics department head as well as Women of the Workforce (WoW) champion, gives opening remarks at the sixth NIWC Pacific WoW speed networking event in San Diego, Oct. 17, 2023. Approximately 35 pairs of leaders or mentors and attendees participated in four 12-minute rounds focused on mentoring and networking. This was the first year since 2019 that the event was in-person, since the speed networking events were hosted virtually the last three years. WoW’s mission is to support NIWC Pacific employees and warfighters – of all genders or nonbinary – by promoting self-development and fostering an inclusive culture, ensuring that everyone is treated equally.
