An F-35B Lightning II short takeoff vertical landing (STOVL) variant fighter jet piloted by a test pilot during high deck motion testing aboard U.K. aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales Oct. 26, 2023. Marine Lt. Col. Michael Lippert was performing STOs, VLs, and shipborne rolling vertical landings (SRVLs) in the 5th generation fighter jet as flight test continues as part of developmental test phase 3 (DT-3) flight trials. HMS Prince of Wales is deployed to the U.S. Eastern Seaboard for WESTLANT 2023. A Pax River F-35 Integrated Test Force (Pax ITF) team is working closely with the ship's crew to conduct the sea trials.
