U.S. Army Soldiers with 1st Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne), jump off a C-130 Hercules during a static-line parachute operation at Ie Shima, Okinawa, Japan, on Oct. 25, 2023. Marines, Airmen, and Special Operations Soldiers practiced static-line and free-fall jumps to hone their abilities for airborne operations. The 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
