    Soldiers with the Kentucky National Guard’s Honor Guard stand ready for the twenty-one gun salute during the ceremony of a Medal of Honor recipient who was buried at Highland Cemetery in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky Nov. 4, 2023. The MoH recipient was U.S. Army Sgt. John F. Rowalt, of Bellville, Ohio, who had served during the Indian Wars before contracting small-pox, and dying around the age of 28 in an unmarked grave which went 148-years before being found and recognized.
