Lt. Gen. Jon Jensen, the Director of the Army National Guard shakes hands with Spc. William Pitney of the 2nd Squadron, 106th Cavalry Regiment. Pitney of Dekalb, Illinois, was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal. General Jensen recognized the 2-106th Cavalry team that placed first among U.S. teams and second overall in the Command Sgt. Maj. William Gainey Cup competition for the best scout squad. The scout team members were presented awards on Nov. 16 at the Illinois Army National Guard Commander's Guidance Seminar at the Bank of Springfield Center in Springfield, Illinois. The three-day seminar featured several prominent speakers on leadership and the future of the Army National Guard.
