LeapFest is a military parachute competition where competitors exit a CH-47 helicopter with the intent of landing as near as possible to targets on the Drop Zone.
Developed in 1982 by a Green Beret from A Co, 2nd BN, 19th Special Forces Group, based right here in Rhode Island, LeapFest is the largest and longest-running international parachuting competition & it has been held annually for almost 40 years.
The purpose of LeapFest is to promote the camaraderie and Esprit de Corps of the Airborne Soldier through international competition. The competition is routinely attended by representatives from Allied Foreign Militaries, as well as from the US Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps.
