U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Hayley Cummings, 20th Operations Support Squadron air traffic control (ATC) apprentice, uses an ATC radar simulator in the Radar Approach Control at Shaw Air Force Base, Oct. 31, 2023. Shaw has two ATC radar simulators which are highly-sophisticated programs that mimic real-life situations controllers may face, allowing new Airmen to make mistakes and learn in training, without putting aircrew or ground crew at risk.
