U.S. Army Maj. Daniel Davis, a logistician assigned to the 7th Infantry Division, describes the execution of the logistical plans during various exercise phases and highlights possible challenges, such as unexpected weather conditions or technical issues, during a bilateral sustainment brief at Camp Sendai, Japan, Dec. 10, 2023. As a part of U.S. Army Pacific's Operation Pathways, the 43rd iteration of Yama Sakura exercise, YS-85, is the first U.S. Army, Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, and Australian Army command post exercise based in Japan. For over forty years, this exercise has demonstrated a continued commitment by both the United States and Japan to work together as dedicated allies in support of the U.S.-Japan security treaty and for continued peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
