Participants of Yama Sakura 85 continue their mission at the Joint Operations Center while sustainment personnel continue their hard work to ensure the exercise’s success at Camp Sendai, Japan, Dec. 10, 2023. As a part of U.S. Army Pacific's Operation Pathways, the 43rd iteration of Yama Sakura exercise, YS-85, is the first U.S. Army, Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, and Australian Army command post exercise based in Japan. For over forty years, this exercise has demonstrated a continued commitment by both the United States and Japan to work together as dedicated allies in support of the U.S.-Japan security treaty and for continued peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
