SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Dec. 2, 2023) Dual military couple, Lts. Brett (R) and Kathy Stevens (L), were U.S. Navy Supply Officers stationed in San Diego when they welcomed their second child in the winter of 1999. That child, Sarah Martin (Stevens) (C), would grow up to be a U.S. Navy nurse at Naval Medical Center San Diego and serve in conjunction with Capt. Elizabeth Adriano, NMCSD director, who delivered Martin. The mission of NMCSD is to prepare service members to deploy in support of operational forces, deliver high quality health care services, and shape the future of military medicine through education, training, and research. NMCSD employs more than 6,000 active-duty military personnel, civilians and contractors in southern California to provide patients with world-class care anytime, anywhere.
