Commander, Joint Task Force Civil Support (JTF-CS) U.S. Army Col. Carl Parsons conducts a call with Col. John Atilano II, defense coordinating officer at FEMA Region 1, from the JTF-CS headquarters building on Fort Eustis, Virginia, Jan. 5, 2024. In February, JTF-CS will collaborate with FEMA Region 1 for exercise Sudden Response and Determined Response and the FEMA Region 1 certification exercise which is a combined exercise that is designed to provide maximum reality and a shared opportunity that mirrors real-world response to a catastrophic incident. During the call, Parsons discussed with Atilano building and enhancing mutually supportive readiness and forging a new way of training together.
