    1st Marine Aircraft Wing

U.S. Marines with Marine Wing Support Squadron 174, Marine Aircraft Group 24, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, set up a Forward Arming and Refueling Point (FARP) to prepare for Marine Rotational Force - Darwin (MRF-D) 24 at Landing Zone Westfield, Marine Corps Air Station Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, Jan. 9, 2024. A FARP is used to extend the capabilities of rotary or fixed wing aircrafts to allow rearming and refueling without having to fall back to a forward operating base. MRF-D serves as a forward postured, partnered, and combat credible Marine Air Ground Task Force in order to facilitate rapid response to crisis and contingencies, increase combined warfighting capability, and strengthen shared alliances and partnerships.
