Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa

Members of the 82nd Expeditionary Rescue Squadron and 2nd Battalion 138th Field Artillery Regiment set up a secure perimeter in order to recover a simulated downed pilot during a joint training exercise Jan. 16 in the Grand Bara Desert, Djibouti. The exercise included two synchronized rescues - one on land and one at sea - and involved airmen, soldiers, sailors and Marines from Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa as well as members of the French Foreign Legion. The exercise helped enhance interoperability and underscored the importance of personnel recovery in the Horn of Africa. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Caleb Pierce)
