    Joint personnel recovery exercise

Members of the 82nd Expeditionary Rescue Squadron recover a simulated downed pilot during a joint and coalition training exercise in the Grand Bara Desert, Djibouti, Jan. 16. The exercise involved two synchronized rescues – one on land and one at sea – and involved airmen, soldiers, sailors and Marines from Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa as well as members of the French Foreign Legion. The exercise helped enhance joint and coalition interoperability and underscored the importance of personnel recovery in the Horn of Africa. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Caleb Pierce)
