US Army Corps of Engineers Task Force Virgin Islands Puerto Rico (TF-VIPR) is the construction agent for the Fort Buchanan Army Family Housing Replacement and Fort Buchanan Fitness Center Renovation projects in support to Jacksonville and Louisville Districts, respectively.
Once the Fort Buchanan Army Family Housing Replacement project is completed the amount of military family housing units (FHU) available within Fort Buchanan for service members will increase from 29 to 55 FHU.
This project will provide housing units that meet current standards of quality of life, energy conservation, size, habitability, safety, and resiliency. The design implemented considered severe weather and seismic events, incorporating features to ensure the integrity of the structures in such conditions.
Renovations at Fort Buchanan Physical Fitness Center will result in a state-of-the-art fitness center that meets the needs of active-duty military members, their families, veterans, retirees, and federal employees in Fort Buchanan served by the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Program, while adhering to the Department of Defense and Army Standards for Fitness Center facilities.
