The 41st Infantry Brigade Combat Battalion (IBCT) conducted a Change of Responsibility ceremony February 4, 2024, in which Brigade Command Sgt. Maj. Richard Parker transferred responsibility to the incoming Brigade Command Sgt. Maj. John K. Zagyva at Camp Withycombe, in Clackamas, Oregon. The Change of Responsibility ceremony is a time-honored tradition that commemorates the symbolic relinquishment of responsibility from one senior noncommissioned officer to another by passing the noncommissioned officer’s sword. Col. Peter Helzer, Brigade Commander of the 41st IBCT, spoke during the ceremony and reminisced about his time working alongside Command Sgt. Maj. Parker.
