Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (Walter Reed) celebrated the 123rd birthday of the Army Nurse Corps with a special ceremony which took place on February 2, 2024, in Clark Auditorium.
Hosted by Army Colonel Wendy Woodall, Director of Nursing Services at Walter Reed, the ceremony included remarks by guest speaker, retired Army Lt. Col. Cynthia Goldberg, and the presentation of the Daisy Award to 2LT Jacob Fox who was nominated by a colleague for the award, stating, “Compassion, extraordinary, exceptional, committed, are all DAISY qualities highlighted in this nomination.”
The ANC became a permanent corps of the Medical Department under the Army Reorganization Act passed by Congress on Feb. 2, 1901. This year’s ANC birthday theme is “Serving with distinction and healing with compassion.”
