Japan Ground Self-Defense Force Maj. Hajime Ishikawa, deputy commander of the 101st Signal Exchange Unit, explains to members of the Naval Air Facility Misawa snow sculpture team how JGSDF soldiers are sculpting a full-size replica of Thailand's Wat Benchamabophit temple out of snow. More than 130 soldiers from the Japanese unit are working together to build the sculpture for the 64th Annual Sapporo Snow Festival, which kicks off Feb. 4, 2013. This year marks the 30th year that NAF Misawa has sent a delegation of sailors on its behalf to build a snow sculpture for the annual festival.
