SILVER SPRING, Md. (Feb. 15, 2024) Pepe Forbes, a physical security specialist with Naval Medical Research Center (NMRC), poses for a photo during a Black History Month recognition. Forbes has dedicated over three decades to military service in the U.S. Army and as a civilian. Forbes’ responsibilities within NMRC include conducting vulnerability checks, evaluating security procedures and ensuring compliance with regulations of security program inspections. He is responsible for developing, implementing and operating the integrated anti-terrorism and force protection program for the command. NMRC is engaged in a broad spectrum of activity from basic science in the laboratory to field studies in austere and remote areas of the world to investigations in operational environments. In support of the Navy, Marine Corps, and joint U.S. warfighters, researchers study infectious diseases, biological warfare detection and defense, combat casualty care, environmental health concerns, aerospace and undersea medicine, medical modeling, simulation, operational mission support, epidemiology and behavioral sciences.
