    Arctic Edge 2024

U.S. Marine Corps Capt. Drew Noble, an air defense control officer with Marine Air Control Squadron 24 (MACS-24), Marine Air Control Group 48, 4th Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Forces Reserve, monitors Gunnery Sgt. Derek Sanford, an air defense controller with MACS-24, as he coordinates fire missions from the Multifunction Air Operations Center (MAOC) in support of Exercise Arctic Edge 2024 at Fort Greely, Alaska, Feb. 19, 2024. The MAOC employs the AN/TPS-80 Ground/Air Task Oriented Radar for air surveillance, delivering expeditionary aviation command and control to the Marine Air-Ground Task Force. Arctic Edge 2024 (AE24) is a U.S. Northern Command-led homeland defense exercise demonstrating the U.S. military’s capabilities in extreme cold weather, joint force readiness, and U.S. military commitment to mutual strategic security interests in the arctic region. Noble is a native of Hingham, Massachusetts. Sanford is a native of Zephyrhills, Florida. (U.S. Marine Corps photo illustration by Lance Cpl.
