OKLAHOMA CITY (April 1, 2024) – Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy James Honea greets the Navy’s Fleet Master Chief of Personnel, Manpower, and Training, Fleet Master Chief Delbert Terrell, at the highway dedication honoring the life and naval career of the Navy’s first Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy Delbert D. Black at Oklahoma City’s Rose State College, April 1, 2024. Resulting from Oklahoma Senator Chris Kidd’s passed Senate Resolution 15, a seven-mile portion of Interstate 35 in Love County was named First MCPON Delbert D. Black Memorial Highway. Navy Sailors, community leaders, and family members of Black commemorated the legacy of the Oklahoma native during the ceremony.
