A competitor takes aim at a target on Krilling Range during the two-gun pistol competition for the 2024 International Sniper Competition on Fort Moore, Ga., April 5-11, 2024. The competition tests competitor teams’ ability to navigate a rigorous gauntlet of events including long-range marksmanship, observation skills, stealth movement, and reconnaissance and reporting ability. Snipers increase lethality by supporting larger military force elements. By scouting out enemy positions and relaying critical information to other components of a larger force, information gathered by snipers directs mortar fire, artillery strikes, and infantry engagements to destroy the enemy force.
