OXON HILL, Md. (April 7, 2024) - An elementary-aged student tests his ability to build a structurally sound shape with toothpicks and marshmallows to demonstrate basic engineering competencies during the Sea-Air-Space Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) expo at the Gaylord National Hotel and Conference Center, Sunday. The activity was hosted by the U.S. Navy's Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) to connect young learners' proficiencies in STEM activities to elements of the real-world missions of commands like SSP. SSP is the Navy command that is responsible for the cradle-to-grave lifecycle of the submarine-launched ballistic missile system. (U.S. Navy Photo by Lt. Jennifer Bowman/Released)
