OXON HILL, Md. (April 7, 2024) - Students launch self-built miniature rocket models to test design and mechanics at the FIRE Rocket Challenge booth during the Sea-Air-Space Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) expo at the Gaylord National Hotel and Conference Center, Sunday. FIRE Rocket Challenge provides STEM education programming to traditionally underrepresented and under-resourced youth. FIRE Rocket partnered with the U.S. Navy's Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) to connect STEM activities to elements of the real-world missions of commands like SSP, the Navy command that is responsible for the cradle-to-grave lifecycle of the submarine-launched ballistic missile system.
