Italian Army Col. Michele Amendolagine, U.S. Army Garrison Italy Italian Base Commander, gives remarks during the naming ceremony. Amendolagine wanted to remember the sacrifice of the Cpl. Matteo Miotto, indicating him as an example of very high attachment to service and moral and professional values, who in 2012 was awarded the "Army Silver Medal.” In collaboration with the U.S. Army Garrison Italy, the Italian Army has honored Miotto’s legacy by naming a military base in Longare—Caserma Matteo Miotto.
