As a Supervisory Fish Biologist, Denise Griffith manages the overall fish program at Lower Monumental Lock and Dam, providing oversite and coordinate all activities for multiple ESA listed salmonid research projects, and the operations of the Juvenile Fish Facility associated with, collecting, handling, sampling, sorting, holding and anesthetizing fish. Her knowledge of anadromous and resident fish biology, dam facility operations and procedures, water and reservoir management practices, and understanding of how the operation of hydroelectric project operations affect migratory and resident fish is critical to leading her team. Lower Monumental Lock and Dam was authorized by the River and Harbor Act of 1945. The project includes a dam, a powerhouse, navigation lock, two fish ladders, a juvenile fish facility (JFF), and associated facilities. It provides navigation, hydroelectric generation, recreation, and irrigation.
