    Brig. Gen. Bill A. Soliz is sworn in as the armed forces’ first general who is an active-duty physician assistant on May 11, 2024, in Honolulu, Hawaii, as his wife, daughters, son and other family members watch. Soliz was promoted by Lt. Gen. Mary K. Izaguirre, the U.S. Army Surgeon General, left. He is the commanding general of Medical Readiness Command, Pacific, and oversees nearly 4,000 Soldiers and 400 civilians in MRC, P and provides regionally ready, globally responsive medical forces, health service support, and force health protection across the region. He is also the director of Defense Health Network Indo-Pacific and oversees a joint, integrated health network with Army, Navy and Air Force personnel that provide quality care in medical facilities in Washington, California, Hawaii, Japan and the Republic of Korea.
