U.S. Army Staff Sgt. William Stow, an M1 armor crewman assigned to Alpha “Aces” Company, 2nd Cavalry Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, with NATO’s Forward Land Forces Battle Group Poland, plays a game of Bocce Ball, a traditional Croatian sport in celebration of the Croatian Armed Forces Day at Bemowo Piskie Training Area, Poland, May 28, 2024. He would later come to win second place in the cornhole tournament. This tournament and the other events in the Croatian Armed Forces Day were to help strengthen relations with our NATO allies by learning their cultures, traditions and histories. The 1st Cavalry Division’s mission is to engage in multinational training and exercises across the continent, strengthening interoperability with NATO allies and regional security partners, which provides competent and ready forces to V Corps, America’s forward-deployed corps in Europe.
