PENSACOLA, Fla. - Rear Admiral (Upper Half) James Waters III answers a student’s question during an All-Hands call held at the Navy Recruiting Orientation Unit (NORU) on May 16, 2024. During his visit, Waters spent time with leadership discussing the results of recent and past national inspections, top field trends, prospecting, and mobile recruiting courses before holding an all-hands call with over 200 future recruiters, classifiers, and Navy Counselors at the schoolhouse.
Waters also attended NORU graduation on May 17, where he delivered the closing remarks and stressed the importance of prospecting and “establishing trust-based relationships to get young Americans to join the Navy.”
NORU is the Navy’s sole recruiting schoolhouse responsible for the instruction of Enlisted and Officer personnel in professional sales, prospecting techniques, marketing, applicant processing, recruiting terminology, leadership, ethical behavior, and activity analysis. It also provides continuum training for the Navy’s Career Recruiting Force and prepares selected leaders for the challenges of operating a Navy Recruiting District (NRD).
