A plaque hangs in the foyer of the D.C. Armory commemorating the efforts of the 121st Engineer Combat Battalion (ECB) in support of WWII, June 5, 2024. Combat engineers proved critical to the success of Operation Overlord, clearing obstacles located on the beaches, the beach exits and coastal roads, thus enabling forces to rapidly advance from the beaches and to drive into Normandy.
