29th Infantry Soldiers visit the Wall of Remembrance (Mur du Souvenir de 29ème US Division d'Infanterie), June 5, 2024, St Jean de Savigny, France, to show their appreciation to the farmers and masons who constructed the wall to honor the 29th Infantry Division's role in their liberation. There are nearly 60 plaques lining the wall to honor the fallen 29th Infantry Division Soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice liberating Normandy. Attendees from the 29th Infantry Division Association unveil five new plaques:
Maj. Gen. Norman “Dutch” Cota, Assistant Division Commander, 29th Infantry Division, Cpl. William M. Harris, Headquarters Battery, Field Artillery, 29th Infantry Division, Pfc. Donald A. McCarthy, Headquarters Company, 116th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division, Pfc. Joseph J. Melchionda, Hotel Company, 175th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division and Pfc. Ingram Estabrook Lambert, Charlie Company, 116th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division are now immortalized on the Wall of Remembrance.
