U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Anthony Carolei, native of Salt Lake City, Utah, reconnaissance Marine, gets his gear reviewed before free-fall jumps during exercise Baltic Operations (BALTOPS) 24 at Gotland, Sweden, June 7, 2024. Reconnaissance Marines conducted the free-fall jumps as part of their insertion, contingency, and exfiltration training, enabling them to operate in austere environments. BALTOPS 24 is the premier maritime-focused exercise in the Baltic Region. This annual joint, multinational maritime-focused exercise, executed by NATO forces to provide opportunities to strengthen combined response capabilities necessary to preserve Baltic regional stability.
